Dr. Alfredo Martinez

Graduated in Biology, he obtained his PhD in Cell Biology in 1991. He completed several postdoctoral stays in London, Dublin and Vancouver.

He worked for 11 years as a Staff Scientist at the US National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, Maryland.

In 2004 he returned to Spain to lead a working group at the CSIC (Madrid) and in October 2008 he was appointed Group Head of the Oncology Area of the La Rioja Biomedical Research Center (CIBIR).

His line of work focuses on the study of new anti-angiogenic therapies in the fight against cancer and his resume includes more than 190 scientific publications. In the field of entrepreneurship, Dr. Martínez is the author of 10 patents related to biotechnology and holds the position of Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Biomass Booster, S.L. since its beginning.

Dr. Álvaro Costa

Graduated in biotechnology (Polytechnic University of Valencia) in 2013, obtained a Master's Degree in Plant Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2015 and in 2018 obtained a PhD in Biotechnology from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, with his thesis entitled "Regulation of the nitric oxide synthesis and signaling by post-translational modifications and N-end rule pathway-mediated proteolysis in Arabidopsis thaliana". This work was carried out under the direction of Dr. José León at the IBMCP (Institute of Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology, Valencia).

He also worked as an intern at the environmental biotechnology company Abba Gaia S.L. in 2012. He has participated in various national and international meetings and has published several articles in specialized international journals.
